Someone who collects unusual objects may want others to think he or she is also unusual. One reason, conscious or not, for what someone chooses to collect is to show the collector's individualism. Someone who decides to collect something as unexpected as dog collars, for instance, may be conveying their belief that they must be interesting themselves.

Spriggs believes the burial urn which was found at the site is very important since it confirms that the ______ found inside are Lapita.这是一个有选项的summary题,对应原文为‘It’s an important discovery’, says Matthew Spriggs, professor of archaeology at the Australian National University and head of the international team digging up the site, ‘for it conclusively identifies the remains as Lapita.’ 其实不止在剑10这篇文章里考到了remain的名词含义,在C4T4R2的第6段中提到“archaeologists study past societies primarily through their material remains - the buildings, tools and other artefacts”,C9T1R3中的第32题题干中考到“fossilised remains”,C12T6R2中的A段提到“the remains of a city”等都不止一次的考到,所以大家一定要把这个词的意思掌握清楚了。

C7T1R1“The American zoologist Donald Griffin, who was largely responsible for the discovery of sonar in bats, coined the term 'echolocation' to cover both sonar and radar, whether used by animals or by human instrument.” C5T3R1“As a result of the growing research evidence of the importance of the first three years of a child's life and the disappointing results from 'Headstart', a pilot programme was launched in Missouri in the US that focused on parents as the child's first teachers.”和“The four-year pilot study included 380 families who were about to have their first child and who represented a cross-section of socio-economic status, age and family configurations.”
