    今天为大家整理了SAT写作素材,内容非常实用,供备考作文中的同学门参考练习。

    题目举例:

“When I examine myself and my methods of thought, I come close to the conclusion that the gift of fantasy has meant more to me than my talent for absorbing positive knowledge.”

  ——Albert Einstein

“There is nothing more dreadful than imagination without taste.”

  ——Jonann Wolfgang von Goethe

Assignment: Do you believe that fantasy or imagination is more important than knowledge?

  素材:

1 The Wright brothers started out creating airplanes by studying the flight of eagles to discover the secret of freeing themselves from gravity and collecting the cheap end of the market which could be taken to construct efficient machines. Although they were called “odd”, they kept on drawing pictures of “steel bird” and trying to make thin-wall steel tubes and chain drives into a birdlike machine. This is the point at which engineering intersects with the imagination. When Wilbur was asked how he learned to fly after their success, he loved to reply through his scarcely opened lips: “Like a bird.” Without imagination, waste is only waste, but in Wrights’ hands it became a masterpiece. 2 Andrew Lloyd Webber, a genius at modern musical, was born in family which both his parents were music teachers. When he was nine, he wrote his first musical. After several years, he entered Royal Academy of Music. However, he didn’t finish his study, because he thought the dogmatic teaching would ossify his imagination. Despite this, he wrote lots of brilliant musicals, such as “Cats” in 1981, “Phantom of the opera” in 1986.

  Both Sides of an Issue

  题目举例:

“In seeking truth you have to get both sides of a story.”

  ——Walter Cronkite

Assignment: Do you agree with Walter Cronkite that it’s necessary to see both sides of an issue in order to discover the truth?

  素材:

1 During the war, two people were kept in a prison. The room was small and dark. They can only see the outside world through a window. One of them was depressed, because he could only see mud. However, the other one was always smiling. “Stars are shining. Silvered moon is hanging in the velvet sky!” he said excitingly. (证明要乐观)

There is a fable about “an optimistic squirrel” who always says “everything will be fine”. In autumn, when all the squirrels were busily collecting food to pull the following freezing winter through, he was taking a walk outside. “There will be food in winter,” he explained, “everything will be fine.” Two months past, winter came. The optimistic squirrel was still taking a walk, for he could not find his food anywhere. When other squirrels came out from their home the next spring, they found the optimistic squirrel had died. “Everything will be fine,” they said to his body. (证明一味乐观是不对的)

  Style more important than substance

  题目举例:

When people form opinions about someone or something, what affects them most is not substance but style. In other words, the way something appears or is presented is more important than what it actually is. This principle affects how people look at their leaders and their lives, the books they read, the products they buy, and even the subjects they take at school.
