范文：
Employees have the need for a good work environment, both its technological facilities and its comfortability, so that they may achieve better results. [句话就速度进入主题的最核心，这样也给第二句话的承接创造方便。] However, if my company had the budget to improve only one of the two aspects, I would like to see a more technology-enabled office, in which I would perform better. [这样一来，两句话就可以结束开头段落。]
Up-to-date technologies are certainly helpful to a staff’s job performance. A stable Wi-Fi connection enables online meetings and conference calls proceed smoothly; specialized video software makes live communication between telecommuters and office workers possible; computers with an updated operating system are more immune to viruses or cyber-attacks, eliminating the risk of losing work progress. All of these are necessary warranties for staff’s results. Also, when the technologies well facilitate work, workers’ mind can be in a sharp and focused state and their spirit can be high, and having an active mind and passion for work, workers perform better and produce better results.
In addition, staffs would be proud of their companies that have state-of-the-art facilities and thus be highly motivated to work with high standards to fit in the high-quality environment. Here is an example for the skeptics about the pathos of the advanced equipment. The company one of my friends works for has recently equipped each employee with the latest model of laptops (for work only). Upon hearing the news, my friend was overjoyed and decided to spend more time on work to make the equipment worthwhile.
Admittedly, some may argue that a renovated and well-furnished office increases employees’ job satisfaction. They believe that working in a pleasant or delightful space enhances employees’ execution of tasks. Nevertheless, these considerations hardly justify the practice. The logic is simple: wouldn’t workers want to complete their daily work on time? Would they like to deal with the “leftover” especially when they have a home to go to? Actually, even the most comfortable office cannot make a worker stay and concentrate, and they would not work well with their mind absent. What is more, if the computers run smoothly, the printers never jam and the Internet connection is stable and fast, who would be bothered by the trivial negative feelings and minor discomfort during work?
Weighing pros and cons, improving technology is more likely to guarantee workers’ productivity and their work quality, and therefore is a more desirable option. By contrast, a revamp of the office, albeit welcome, is less likely to have the same effect on workers’ performance.
