习惯上在句子开头使用部分倒装句。 后面的状语只能是副词、介词短语、从句等。

Only by shouting was he able to make himself heard. 他只有这样叫喊才能让学习别人可以听到他。
注意，当状语后面仅是从句时，从句不使用倒置，而是部分倒置。符合：
只有下雨的时候你才会觉得凉爽.
只有当他回到家，他才意识到发生了什么。当他回到家，他知道发生了什么。
只有当我们着陆时，我们才看到飞机损坏得有多严重。我们着陆后才看到飞机损坏的严重程度。
2.在句首的only如果我们后面只有跟了一个副词、介词进行短语或从句等状语，则主句用倒装功能结构。如only后跟的是主语，就不用通过倒装复合结构了。例如：
He was not able to return to work until after the war ended in 1918.
Only in this way can you learn English well.
It is only through hard struggle that the goal is reached.
Only teachers are allowed to use this room. (No flip-chip)
Only five people were injured in the accident.(No upside down)
3.请注意，如果不是在句子的顶部，只有和修改后的状语也不会倒置。
如：
The boy got help only when his father hurried to arrive.
Only then did he realize the importance of English

4.只有这样，意思是短时间，通常用在句子的开头，以引导倒置的句子。
例句Only then did he realize the importance of English.
如果副词、介词短语或从句后面跟着副词、介词短语或句首的状语从句，那么主句就是倒装的。如果只是跟随主题，没有必要倒置。
再比如
It was not until the end of the war in 1918 that he was able to return to work. (Inverted sentence)
Only five people were injured in the accident.(No upside down)
