除了上期我们解析的Argument之外，GRE Analytical Writing还有另一项30分钟的写作任务：Analyze an Issue。相较于Argument，Issue一般更让考生“头痛”。
The “Analyze an Issue” task 是什么？
每一道issue题都会提出一个观点，命题后附有具体的写作指令说明。这部分写作要求考生按照写作指令的要求，从不同角度对这个观点进行讨论。Ø Write a response in which you discuss the extent to which you agree or disagree with the statement and explain your reasoning for the position you take. In developing and supporting your position, you should consider ways in which the statement might or might not hold true and explain how these considerations shape your position.1- 讨论你同意或不同意题目中的statement；
2- 考虑什么样的特定条件下，该陈述成立；
3- 考虑什么样的特定条件下，该陈述不成立；
Ø Write a response in which you discuss the extent to which you agree or disagree with the recommendation and explain your reasoning for the position you take. In developing and supporting your position, describe specific circumstances in which adopting the recommendation would or would not be advantageous and explain how these examples shape your position.1- 讨论你同意或不同意题目中的recommendation；
2- 考虑什么情况下，采取这项建议有好处；
3- 考虑什么情况下，采取这项建议无法达到预期的效果；
Ø Write a response in which you discuss the extent to which you agree or disagree with the claim. In developing and supporting your position, be sure to address the most compelling reasons and/or examples that could be used to challenge your position.1- 讨论你同不同意题目中的claim；
2- 务必提出极具说服力的理由或例子，来反证自己的立场；
Ø Write a response in which you discuss which view more closely aligns with your own position and explain your reasoning for the position you take. In developing and supporting your position, you should address both of the views presented.1- 讨论题目中的哪个观点符合你自己的立场；
2- 务必对两个观点都进行分析；
Ø Write a response in which you discuss the extent to which you agree or disagree with the claim and the reason on which that claim is based.1- 讨论你同不同意题目中的claim；
2- 这个claim成立的理由是什么；
Ø Write a response in which you discuss your views on the policy and explain your reasoning for the position you take. In developing and supporting your position, you should consider the possible consequences of implementing the policy and explain how these consequences shape your position.1- 讨论你对题目中的policy的看法；
2- 考虑采取这项政策的话，可能会有哪些结果；
写作当然是没有标准答案的，考官在评分的时候也不会去评价考生的立场是对是错，主要还是看是否能够“自圆其说”，也就是“critical thinking and persuasive writing”、“developing a compelling argument supporting your own evaluation of an issue and effectively communicating that argument in writing to an academic audience”。
