为什么做托福阅读时总是觉得文章长，生词多，时间不够用。遇到这样的情况，应该怎样应对呢?
其实这个问题很简单，我们完全可以take advantage of(利用)托福阅读本身的特点来解决。
首先托福阅读的一个重要特点是： 80%以上的题目，只需理解定位句即可，因为定位句通常只有一句，且多为答案句。
今天笔者和大家分享的是解答问题的步：如何定位，找到定位句?
何为定位句?定位句就是原文中对题干及选项中所涉及内容的描述。
定义提供了2条线索：题干+选项
Method1：先定位题干中的话题词(即about后面的内容)，如果该话题词文章中出现的次数较多，定位出的句子太多，我们可以选择将题干中的特殊词(即人名、地名、大写字母、带有连词符号的词汇)拿来定位。
Method2：如果原文段落较长，可以去定位选项，定位选项中的话题词及特殊词。
实例1：OG《鲸目动物的起源》
Paragraph 1: It should be obvious that cetaceans—whales, porpoises, and dolphins—are mammals. They breathe through lungs, not through gills, and give birth to live young. Their streamlined bodies, the absence of hind legs, andthe presence of a fluke and blowhole cannot disguise their affinities with land dwelling mammals.However, unlike the cases of sea otters and pinnipeds (seals, sea lions, and walruses…

题干定位：话题词the presence of a blowhole
定位句the presence of a fluke and blowhole cannot disguise their affinities with land dwelling mammals.
选项B 是对该句的同义改写，因此选项是B。
实例2：沙漠的形成
All of the following are mentioned in the passage as contributing to desertification EXCEPT
○soil erosion
○global warming
○insufficient irrigation
○the raising of livestock
题干中有in the passage，且话题词较抽象，不是具体事物，通常来说直接定位题干中的话题词或特殊词会很麻烦，因为原文中出现这些词汇的次数可能太多，我们不妨直接定位选项。
其中C中的灌溉不足与文章9段的过度灌溉语义相反，所以选择C。
