  Reading—见真题,本文只整理要点

✔ General idea: tuna cannot be kept in ocean cages

✔ Reason 1: female tuna cannot lay eggs in captivity/fisher would catch wild young tuna for raising/the population will be reduced

✔ Reason 2: expensive to raise tuna/need high protein food

✔ Reason 3: easy to be infested by parasites/weaken tuna and cause further death

  Listening—见真题,本文只呈现笔记细节

✔ Researchers have found promising solutions to the problems.

✔ Solution 1: insert hormone to those fish/no healthy risks/the number of wild fish can be maintained

✔ Solution 2: high protein food/do not need to all come from fish/plants can also do the work/can supply the same protein/at a low cost

✔ Solution 3: parasite attack all the fish/put the cage in to deeper water/blood flukes can be reduced

  Writing:

Both the passage and the lecture deal with the possibility of feeding tunas in ocean cages. Although the reading opposes the idea, the lecturer insists this can be achieved by some solutions.

One criticism presented in the reading is that due to the infertility of caged female tuna, more young fish would be caught for further raising leading to thevicious cycle of declining tuna population. In the listening, however, the speaker argues that the problem can be solve by inserting hormone to female tuna without causing any health risk, and also avoid catching the young tuna. Therefore the wild ones can be maintained.

Moreover, the reading displays one difficulty that the food of tuna is too expensive to afford due to the high-protein diet mainly from other fish. In contrast, the lecture in the listening disproves the reading’s argument by providing evidence that the high protein does not have to come from fish only, plants can also meet the end and supply all the nutrients tuna need.

Lastly, the reading shows another reason that tuna in cage is easily infested by parasites and the weak ones would cause death. On the contrary, the speaker rebuts that statement by pointing out that parasite attack many fish. This can be solved by putting the cage farther off the shore into deeper water due to the parasite’s need of short distance.
