雅思口语常用句之回应称赞：

Jim: Can I ask you a question?

Lily: Sure, go ahead.

Jim: Do you think rich people are much happier?

Lily: I doubt it. I don't think happiness and wealth are really related. I think if you don't have money you'd be unhappy.
but having money doesn't mean you'd be happy.

Jim: What do you mean?

Lily: Well, when you're rich, you can buy whatever you want. But it is difficult to trust other people; they might just want
your money. So it might be hard to make real friends. I imagine it is kind of lonely.

Jim: So you are saying that rich people are unhappy?

Lily: Not exactly. Compare the rich with the poor, and you will see completely. The rich are not just happy because they
have money. Poor people, on the other hand,are unhappy because they have to worry all the time about money for food and their
apartment. They might have a few more friends but with no money they have a hard life.

3.详细解说
1.“compare sth./sb. with sth./sb.”表示“把某物（某人）跟某物（某人）作比较”，例如：The police compared the suspect's
fingerprints with those found at the crime scene.（警方把嫌疑犯的指纹和犯罪现场上发现的指纹作了比较。）注意，“compare
sth./sb. to sth./sb.”则表示“把某物（某人）比作某物（某人）”，例如：Davies' style of writing has been compared to Dickens。
（戴维斯的写作风格被比作为狄更斯的写作风格。）
2.在“...and you will see completely.”一句中，“see”意为“明白，清楚”，“completely”相当于“totally”。

英语中“倍数”的比较方法
前面我们学了一些基本的表示比较的说法，此外还有一种常用的比较方法，那就是倍数比较。英语中表示倍数比较的说法主要有以下几种。
1．A+be+倍数+形容词比较级+than+B．例：
The Yangtze River is almost twice longer than the Pearl River.
（长江差不多比珠江长两倍。）
The dictionary is exactly five times more expensive than that one.
（这本字典比那本恰好贵5倍。）
2．A+be+倍数+as+形容词原级+as+B．例：
This tree is three times as tall as that one.
（这棵树是那棵树的三倍高。）
His father is twice as old as he.
（他父亲的年纪是他两倍大。）
3．A+be+倍数+the+计量名词+of+B．例：
The newly broadened square is four times the size of the previous one.
（新扩建的广场面积是之前的四倍大。）
4．The+计量名词+of+A+ be+倍数+that+of+B．上面那个例句套用这这个句式就是：
The size of the newly broadened square is four times that of the previous one.
