GRE阅读第【11】讲
我们已经开始上难度了。
一个长篇阅读如下（已拆分）：
段抛出两个提问，并且形成contrast： like the poet … creatively, intuitively, subjectively？ VS like a scientist … demonstrable, verifiable, objective？ 可以预判下文很可能去回答这两个问题， 或者分析这两个问题所描述的不同情况。 至于会不会在这两个情况之间的出结论，目前不可预知，也不需要知道。 接下来的段落很长： 耐住性子读完个长句就是守得云开见月明了。整个段落无非是两个If: * If she defines feminist criticism as objective and scientific … 和 * If she defines feminist criticism as creative and intuitive, privileged as art … 这两个If对应了段中的两个提问。 所以，刚才上面这个很长篇幅的段落，只需要仔细阅读两个If的部分即可。 接下来的段落可就厉害了：段落不长，但是整个段落就是一个长句子。 那么就是长难句的拆解了。 首先，明确一下：这个段落不是在回应开头时候提出的两个提问。 撸起袖子开始拆解这个长难句： * These questions are political in the sense。 * 什么sense呢？sense后面的同位语从句：the debate over them will inevitably be less an exploration of abstract matters in a spirit of disinterested inquiry than an academic power struggle。 * 这个从句也蛮长的，怎么解读呢？你只需要知道：an exploration 小于 an academic power struggle。 * 那exploration后面的of blah blah blah不重要么？对，不重要。为什么？明显an academic power struggle后面的从句的内容更长，可见那才是重点。 * 解读an academic power struggle的具体情况就是解读后面in which开始的从句。怎么解读？你看啊：the careers and professional fortunes of many women scholars—only now entering the academic profession in substantial numbers—will be at stake, 核心是the careers and professional fortunes will be at stake。那中间跳过的部分是什么？你看：of many women scholars—only now entering the academic profession in substantial numbers—。首先，那个of就是“的”，然后，many women scholars后面是修饰成分，这样以来并不难理解呀。 * and with them the chances for a distinctive contribution to humanistic understanding, a contribution that might be an important influence against sexism in our society 难理解？不会。你看：a contribution that might be an important influence against sexism in our society 根本是一个很长的名词词组（只怪后面的定语从句太长）。这个名词词组是前面的a distinctive contribution to humanistic understanding的同位语呀。你再回去看一下。不难了，对吧。然后前后有个for，说明从for开始是修饰the chances的。 * 最后的一个点就是and with them了。难点在于them指代的是什么。那就要首先判断and是连接什么和什么的。那么，and后面是一个很长的名词（the chances for blah blah blah blah blah blah），说明and是连接两个名词的。于是，and前面的名词（不是many women scholars哦 ，因为不能割裂of many women scholars作为一个整体，这个整体其实是“物主形容词”）你找到了么？是the careers and professional fortunes。那就是them所指代的信息。and with them the chances (blah blah blah blah blah blah) 的意思是：“以及伴随着the careers and professional fortunes而来的（什么样的）机会”。 那么长的一个句子看完，还剩最后一个段落。 我们在一开始的疑惑，在最后一个段落有解答： If she wishes to construct a theory of feminist criticism, she would be well advised to place it within the framework of a general theory of the critical process that is neither purely objective nor purely intuitive. 全篇读完，还要看题？ 不用。 从本讲开始的几讲，我们的目的就是带着大家梳理长篇幅文本：摸索长文的结构以及痛殴破解结构来找到对应的阅读方法。
