Jiuzhaigou Valley literally "Valley of Nine Villages"is a nature reserve （自然保护区）and national park in the north of Sichuan, a province in south western China. It is known for its many multi-level waterfalls（瀑布） and colorful lakes（五彩缤纷的湖泊）, and was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site （世界非物质文化遗产）in 1992.

The rivers and lakes of Jiuzhai Valley contribute a large part to its natural beauty. Scattered in the valley strip are more than a hundred colorful lakes, which are called Haizi, or the sea, by local Tibetans.

Water in the lakes is clear and transparent（湖水清澈透明）, presenting pebbles, waterweeds to the naked eye(鹅卵石、水草肉眼可见). Every lake is a mixture of vivacious green and deep blue, with touches of loud yellow（每一个湖泊都有碧绿、深蓝、明黄的混合色）.
