　　句子成分分析：Perhaps ，副词，like 介词，表对比，Upper Paleolithic men and women，句子的主语，believed 谓语动词，that 引导宾语从句，the drawing of a human image, 做从句的主语，could cause 做从句的谓语动词。and 并列连词，连接另一个复合句，if 引导的状语从句，主句是逗号后面的句子，why 引导宾语从句。

　　句子翻译：可能，像许多现代人一样，UP时期的人们认为画人类画像可能造成死伤，并且如果那确实是他们的想法，那就可以解释为什么人类的画像很少在岩洞艺术里被描绘。

　　整句话的主要意思是UP时期人们认为一个想法，如果这个想法是真的，那就可以解释一种现象。

　　第二步：看选项

　　A选项的意思是说UP时期的人们，认为如果画人像，就会造成死伤。原句意思说，UP时期的人们，有没有那个想法是不确定的。所以A本身表达的意思与原句意思不符。最明显错误就是没有表达出原句的第二层意思，如果那个想法是真的，就可以解释…

　　B说许多当代人认为画人像可能会造成死伤，因此，他们就像PU时期的人们一样，很少在岩洞艺术里画人像。原句主要在讲UP时期的人们，现代人是用来做对比的，而B选项在说现代人，把UP时期的人们用来做对比，弄反了。

　　C说如果UP时期的人们，像现代人一样，认为画人像会造成死伤，这种信念就可能解释为什么人像很少在岩洞艺术里被描述。这与原句意思相符，是正确选项。

　　D说尽管许多现代人认为话人像可能造成死伤，研究者们也不能解释为什么UP时期人们很少在岩洞艺术里画人像。原句的意思是如果…，这种现象是可以解释的。所以D是不对的。

　　托福阅读句子简化题的错误选项的特点：重要信息缺失，与原句意思相反;逻辑关系表达不一致。

　　关于如何提高句子简化题的准确率，笔者提出一些建议。

　　1.  背单词，夸大自己的词汇量，正确理解原句的意思。关于如何扩大自己的词汇量，有多种途径。最刻板的方法就是纯粹背单词，为自己制定小小计划，规定一天背诵多少单词，这些单词在几天之内背完，重要的一点是要把计划付诸实践。另外一种扩大词汇量的方法是看自己感兴趣的英语文章，或英文期刊、报纸等。

　　2. 每天看一点语法知识，看了就要学着去运用。找一些长难句，自己拿来分析。
