When the truck stopped in front of his own car, Officer Jones hoped that the police bulletin was wrong. The bulletin had said that a burglar was doing a bunk from a crime scene in a red truck. Now that Officer Jones had stopped a red truck, he had a bad feeling. He could suddenly picture his wife attending his burial and the moles burrowing through the soil around his dead body. But, as he put his coffee and the bun he had been eating down on the seat next to him,he knew he had a job to do.

When Officer Jones walked up to the window of the car, Jack Bail looked back at him. Jack had been the biggest bully in the town that Officer Jones had grown up in. He was meaner than a bull and as big as one, too. Officer Jones had stayed five years in that town before the police bureaucracy transferred him to another region. This was the man he feared the most. And now he had to arrest him.

"Hey Wally!” said Jack in a funny voice, “What's wrong? Was I speeding? I know my bumper looks like it's about to fall off,but that's not enough reason to stop your old friend, is it?”

"Hello Jack.” Officer Jones replied. “No, I have to take you in. Please step out of the truck!”

Jack made an angry face and said, “Now this isn't because of that time I tied you to the bunk bed and beat you up, is it?”

"No Jack,I just need to take you in for some questions.” This was uncomfortable and Officer Jones could tell it wasnt going well.

Jack Bail suddenly started his truck up and said, “Sorry Wally,I can't do that. It looks like you're going to have to come and get me!!!”

As he ran back to get into his police car to chase Jack, Officer Jones knew his worst nightmares were coming true.
