1. 时间：>30用to、<30用past, half past，或者直接用数字表达，15分钟用a quarter，介词用at、上午用AM,、下午用PM，夜里12点多是AM、12：01(twelve oh one AM)。
2. 年代：1987(nineteen eighty-seven)、 1900(nineteen hundred)、1650(sixteenfifty)、1650s(sixteen fifties、 in the middle of the 17th century)、at the turnof the century(世纪之交)、 2008 (two thousand and eight、 twenty oh eight)、decade(十年)、fortnight(two weeks)。
3. 十几和几十的分辨(听元音的长短及重音)14、fourteen、 40 forty can, can’t.
4. 电话号码：按数字读一般三位、三位的读。419-911-9123、零可以读zero、oh‘ naught, 两个零在末尾读hundred，三个零可以读thousand。两个数字读double、三个读triple、 Country code、area code、 extension,exchange、 operator,、incoming call、text message、short message、pager、page.
