It’s going to be another battle of the Brits at the 2014 Emmy Awards, with Martin Freeman, Benedict Cumberbatch and Idris Elba among those going head to head for the gold.
The trio are set for a showdown of potentially epic proportions after all being shortlisted for best actor in a miniseries, following the announcement of the nominations on Thursday.
While Cumberbatch has landed his nomination for the most recent series of Sherlock, Freeman has been recognised for his role as Lester Nygaard in Fargo – and Elba has once again picked up a nomination for Luther.
They’re joined in the category by Chiwetel Ejiofor, whose performance in the BBC Two series Dancing On The Edge as bandleader Louis Lester has also won him a nomination.
However the four will face some stiff competition from their rivals in the category, who include Mark Ruffalo for The Normal Heart, and Billy Bob Thornton for his role as Fargo’s hit man Lorne Malvo.
