Lower price does have its benefits. For one thing, this can satisfy the needs of part of consumers. There are either instances where people who live in abject poverty and cannot afford expensive commodities seek for economical alternatives to meet ends meet, or instances where consumers, considering the techniques or design features updating unprecedentedly, desire more to keep track of the latest fashion but cost them less. In this case, purchasing goods with affordable prices is a wise decision. As to producers, lower prices to some extent boost consumption, enabling them to rake in more profits. However, such a trend may incur more potential repercussions on the social level. More accurately, as cheap products allow customers to consume new items frequently, this may create a “throw-away” culture and breed conspicuous consumption, which ultimately causes waste of natural resources.

To illustrate, these products, though requiring more money, usually boast higher quality and performance considering more durable materials and better refined processing techniques have been employed. In the long term, consumers can save the budgets which should have been allocated to repairing malfunctioning items or even buying new ones, especially those costing much such as electrical appliances. By stark contrast, cheaper alternatives are thus less preferable, as they are more prone to breakage. Additionally, developing and manufacturing cost-effective products also enables manufacturers to establish a sound brand image, promising them to hold a greater share in the market.
