The film “The Shawshank Redemption” is definitely a classic from the perspectives of plot, directing and acting. It also witnessed the success of a great actor Morgan Freeman who perfectly interpreted the main supporting role. In reality, Morgan Freeman’s story to fame is one that speaks for the truth —success awaits opportunities which depend on appropriate time.
Born in 1937, Morgan Freeman did not come to enormous popularity until late 1980s and 1990s. He started learning drama in 1959 when he was already 22. With a late start, he landed on the stage of Broadway late as well at the age of 30. Fortunately, his performing skills were fully trained when he involved himself wholeheartedly in musicals, modern operas and Shakespearean plays. In 1971 he turned his eyes to TV, and played a role as a teacher in an English teaching program. During the period, he also began his journey of playing in films. Though these films he participated in were not in good taste or able to give him enough space to tap his potential, they did offer him opportunities to live on in the film sphere.
Till 1987, he played a ruffian role in “Street Smart”, and his delicate performing skills won his nominations of both Oscar Best Supporting Actor and the Golden Globe Awards. From here he completely focused on films. Later he played in “Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves” “Se7en” “Million Dollar Baby”, etc., most of which earned great sales and reputations.
