Dear Peter,
How are you? I’m writing to ask a favour of you - I hope you don’t consider it too rude. As we discussed last time, I should arrive at your university in October. However, I’ve been going over my finances for the coming year and have come to the realisation that I’m not going to have enough money to cover all my bills and projected costs. With this in mind, I was wondering if you could help me look for work? Basically, I’m looking for a part-time job somewhere near the university. I’11 be studying for most of the week, but will have free time on Fridays and the weekend. If you have the time, do you think you could take a look through the classified ads of the local newspaper and see if there are any restaurants looking for chefs? I have extensive experience, and would be happy to provide a CV if they request one.
I hope this doesn’t inconvenience you, but it would mean the world to me.
