To start with, this issue can be partly attributed to the progresses of technology. To satisfy the overwhelming demands of citizens, not only are more housing areas and recreational facilities established, but public transport and wide roads are upgraded as well, both of which produce annoying sounds. Meanwhile, the frequent usage of private cars, despite much convenience it has brought, fuels noise pollution, with either tyres rubbing against the roads or drivers honking the horn impatiently. Additionally, as most regions are urbanising along with the exploding population, people’s business and recreational activities, such as street markets and night pubs, are also the main sources of noise, disturbing residents in the neighbourhood.

Second, more sensors and monitoring equipment can be installed, and fines as a deterrent can be imposed to restrain both businesses and individuals from making too much noise. Lastly, it is also a feasible way to issue certain subsidization policies to encourage companies and residents to migrate to the suburb, as the fewer people a region accommodates, the less noise they suffer from.
