1、表转折，反义
however/ but/ yet/ although/despite/ in spite of/while/actually/in fact/although/even if/ in contrast
例如：During the concert the audience was quiet, but after it ended the crowd became boisterous.
But前的quiet是安静的意思，转折后的boisterous就是反义的喧闹的意思。
总结：此种方法有利于在不认识单词的前提下读懂句子意思，很有帮助，但一定要练习，而且要敏感。
练习：Andrew is one of the most supercilious men I know. His brother， in contrast, is quite humble and modest.
humble and modest是谦虚的意思，那转折之前的supercilious就是高傲自大的意思。
2、表并列
as well as, and, both... And, either... or; neither...nor…
A and B、A...and B...
(1) 并列双方性质相同;
(2) 当A、B都比较复杂时，应该从一项找起，根据B的形式到前文找到A
例如：The modern city consists of monstrous edifices and of dark, narrow streets full of petrol fumes and toxic gases, torn by the noise of the taxicabs, lorries and buses, and thronged ceaselessly by great crowds。
解释：此句话中共有四个and ,个and 并列of 结构，第二个and 并列fumes和toxic,第三个and并列taxicabs, lorries 和buses, 第四个and并列full of …, torn by… 和thronged…
3、表举例
such as/ like/ including/ for example/ for instance
例如：Diane experienced many great traumas during early childhood, including being injured in a car crash and the death of her family.
后面的举例都是负向的、不好的事情，因而traumas也是负向的意义，即为“创伤、不幸”。
4、表顺序或过程
(1) first, then, next, later on, finally
(2) 1st, 2nd, 3rd…
(3) in the first place, in the second place…
(4) before…, after…
(5) once, until, as soon as,…
这类词有助于我们理解描述类雅思阅读文章，并对于流程图题型的解题有很大帮助。
5、因果关系
(1) 大因果关系/分句间因果关系(即：原因、结果是两句话)
because, in that, as, since, for, so(that)，therefore, thus, hence, as a result
(2) 小因果关系/句内因果关系(在一句话中)
例如：Increased air temperature brought about higher sea levels。
Cause, lead to, result in/ from, contribute to, pose, help, create, affect, influence, attribute to。
Attribute A to B, 把A归因于B (因为B所以A)
关系词在雅思阅读中是非常重要的一个考点，其附近的信息通常是出题点。找到定位的关系词，就能确定答案所在的段落，从而更高效的答题。因而，考生应培养对关系词的敏感性，快速而准确的定位解题所需信息，正确解题。
