今天是GRE写作Argument任务的第4讲（从5月起，我们每周五见）。
今天，我们看到的是题库里的第120题。
The brief passage（有点儿长）: Several years ago, Groveton College adopted an honor code, which calls for students to agree not to cheat in their academic endeavors and to notify a faculty member if they suspect that others have cheated. Groveton's honor code replaced a system in which teachers closely monitored students. Under that system, teachers reported an average of thirty cases of cheating per year. The honor code has proven far more successful: in the first year it was in place, students reported twenty-one cases of cheating; five years later, this figure had dropped to fourteen. Moreover, in a recent survey, a majority of Groveton students said that they would be less likely to cheat with an honor code in place than without. Such evidence suggests that all colleges and universities should adopt honor codes similar to Groveton's. This change is sure to result in a dramatic decline in cheating among college students.
Instructions（一定一定一定要仔细读）: Write a response in which you discuss what questions would need to be answered in order to decide whether the recommendation is likely to have the predicted result. Be sure to explain how the answers to these questions would help to evaluate the recommendation.
基于我们之前3讲已经习得（也许吧）的概念，我们以一个逻辑点来解读这个指令：whatquestions would need to be answered是什么意思？
我们可能发现一个偷换概念问题：文中说a majority of students said that they would be less likely to cheat with an honor code in place than without。意思是“有这个honor code的情况下比没有（这个honor code的情况）下”不会去做弊。听起来有些道理。
但是，但是，但是，作者不是要比较honor code和teachers’ monitoring么？怎么去比较有honor code和没有honor code了呢？哄小孩儿呢？！
明确了这个逻辑疑点之后，我们解读指令：what questions would need to be answered。也就是我们要问问作者：我知道有honor code可能比没有好（有honor code可能比没有的时候能控制cheating），我怎么知道学生觉得honor code比teachers’ monitoring更能抑制ta们cheating的想法和行为呢？这个比较真是滑稽。
嘲笑过后，我们开始写作。虽然我们心里的想法是the comparison should be between the honor code and the system of teacher monitoring，我们写作的时候要应对着指令的要求来写：Although the honor code , according to the majority of students, may effectively deter most students from cheating, did the students also say that they would be less likely to cheat with the honor code than with the teachers’ monitoring system? Without answering this question, it is unfair for the author to suggest that the honor code would be more effective than teachers’ monitoring in reducing cheating.
看到加粗斜体字的部分（问题）了么？有点get到point了？我们再看一个逻辑点巩固一下：
短文的论证中有一个它因问题：The fewer cases of cheating may be due to the decrease in the levels of difficulty of the tests, the case in which students find cheating unnecessary. 怎么加工成应对指令的形式？如下：The author should also consider whether it was because of the honor code that there had been fewer cases of cheating. Are there any other factors that could also have led to the reduction? For example, if the levels of difficulty of the tests decreased when the honor was in place, some students who would have otherwise cheated would not cheat.
至此，大家是否对指令为what questions would need to be answered的类型有些概念了？仍然模糊？不着急。下周五（每周五）见。
