In recent years, responsible tourists have paid attention to preserve both culture and environment of the places they visit. However, some people say that it is impossible to be a “responsible tourist”. To what extent do you agree or disagree with the statement?
Are tourists able to conserve both culture and environment of various tourist attractions? The answer is apparently positive. Not only can they make subtle changes but they can be the savior.

The inability of normal tourists to preserve culture and nature is understandable. Specifically, when journeying to a novel resort, a tourist is less likely to stay for a long time. This means that (s)he can barely address the cultural impacts and environmental damages even if (s)he craves for doing so, considering the severity of such thorny issues. In this sense, the impossibility endorsed by some does make sense. However, just as Rome is not established within one day, we can never expect these big problems resolved completely overnight. Visitors can also make a huge difference as long as they are highly motivated and determined.

Likewise, every time we refrain from using private cars to reach a destination within walking distance and instead choose to walk there, we do not leave a footprint on our Mother Nature by minimizing the carbon emissions. Besides, tourists can also launch some educational campaigns that call on the general public to put an end to graffiti and vandalism in historical relics. Such active propaganda, to some degree, protects our cultural assets from being undermined.
