Introduction
With the advent of information age, watching TV becomes one of the most common recreational activities for people with no exception for children. While some people are a strident advocate in the claim that TV is an unhealthy tool, I personally believe children can enjoy tangible boons brought by TV programs.

Opponents voice their concern toward the detrimental impacts watching television may exert on children’s physical fitness as well as psychological well-being. With excessive exposure to screens, children not only are likely to be subjected to poor eyesight , but have the inclination to struggle with health problems such as back pain and obesity owing to the lack of adequate exercise. Worse yet, TV programs give easy access to unfavorable information like violence and pornography. Putting young children who are mentally immature into contact with these contents without parental guide will lead to mental problems and even result in juvenile delinquency. Another dark side would be the slide in academic performance brought about by deep addition to the virtual world. Young children, if they are glued to such gadgets, will seldom plough into their studies , hindering them from making progress on learning.

In my personal opinion, however, watching television can be of paramount importance in educating children. With a sea of information on TV, children’s infinite potential for learning can be excavated, sparking their interest and expanding their horizon. For instance, current events keep children up to date about what is happening around the world instantaneously. Animal World is a program where children can be furnished with knowledge concerning animal classification, animal behavior and animal conservation. Additionally, watching TV can have positive and therapeutic effects on unleashing heavy load of pressure in study. To elaborate, children, trapped with bored study and endless exercises, can be refreshed and energetic by viewing certain entertainment activities, be it a cartoon or a typical reality show.
