　　Carrie huddled behind the bush and whispered to her little brother,Sammmy,to hush up,the hounds were getting closer.She could hear their howls.When she hopped up to look over the bush,she saw the fox coming towards them.She hustled around,hurdled over a log,and turned on the hose Sammy was holding.Water came spraying out like a hurricane,horrifying the fox and giving Carrie enough time to take him hostage with a big hug.She put her hand around the fox's mouth to hush any sound he might make.Then she hurled the hose away and hid back behind the bush.

　　Because her perfume was fresh the hounds and the horses went running by.Carrie watched the hoofs pass from her hiding spot.This was a hue and cry away from any game she and Sammy had played before,but she knew when her Daddy told her about the hunt that she had to save the fox.She had never understood people's hostility towards foxes,but now she would show it the hospitality that humanity was capable of.And she would humiliate her friends who said she couldn't do it.

　　As she looked at the fox she admired the hue of its fur.She hummed to herself happily and wiped her forehead that was wet from the excitement and the humidity.Sammy came quickly and was hovering over the fox when it suddenly bit Carrie's hand.She screamed,threw the fox at a tree and then cried when she realized that she had killed it.Now she was the one humiliated and the fox was dead.It was all for nothing.

　　她看着狐狸，心里很是羡慕它的毛的颜色。她自个儿快乐地哼着曲子，擦了擦因激动和潮湿而湿乎乎的额头。萨米很快赶来了，他逗留在它近旁，就在这时狐狸咬了卡丽的手。她尖叫着把狐狸朝一棵树扔去，等她发现已经把狐狸摔死时，她又哭了起来。现在她成了被羞辱的人，因为狐狸已经死了。这真是白忙活一场。
