The Birth of a Hacker黑客的诞生

When the Dean of the University deemed it necessary to decree the University be closed, it wasn't just because of the budget deficit. The university was in default of one of its loans, that was true, but the closing of the University was more in direct defiance of a deceptive computer hacker and drug dealer who had decoded the university computer system. This hacker had introduced a virus into the university computer systems that had first deducted large amounts of money from the university payroll and then made all of the computers delete their main memory storage areas and go into a deadlock. It was a decisive move and a wonderful debut for the hacker. He was famous even though he was also now the defendant in a controversial court case dedicated to defining deficiencies in current laws and how to handle this crime. The hacker's deceit had been to sneak into the computer system and correctly deduce the number of decimals used in the computer system. Whereas the default number of decimals in such systems is four, he had deduced that it was five in the university system. The deadly virus that the hacker had put into the computer system based on the number of decimals revealed his defiance of the law and his desire to be famous. Now the court had to decide how to deal with him. One question was whether to handle this case completely at the local level or defer it to a higher court. No matter what the decision, the damage had been done and the university was now closed.
